CigarPursuits: Pursuing the "Quai d'Orsay No.52"

Image
About  Quai d'Orsay   In the early 1970s, Valéry Giscard d'Estaing, a French official, wanted to boost France's reputation in the tobacco industry, much like its prestige in perfumes, champagne and fashion. To do this, he decided to create a special cigar brand. Recognising Cuba's expertise in cigars, Gilbert Belaubre thought it would be a good idea to collaborate with Cuban cigar makers. So, in 1973, a new cigar brand called "Quai D’Orsay" was established by Cubatabaco exclusively for France, as requested by the French company Seita. The name "Quai d’Orsay" was chosen because it was linked to a famous avenue in Paris where Seita had its offices. This brand was officially registered on February 23, 1972. For more than 40 years, Quai D’Orsay was a hidden treasure in the world of Cuban cigars, mainly available to experts in the French market. It became successful with special editions and unique products made just for the French market.
