CigarPursuits Review
Appearance & Construction: 10/15
This cigar looks great. It's smooth and neat, and its hexagonal shape is unique. Even the band on it is well done. The bottom and top of the cigar are made nicely too. But the problem was with the draw that remained tight the whole time, which was a bit frustrating. It required double puffs, which made the cigar heat up too much and changed the flavors, affecting the overall smoking experience.
Flavors: 30/35
The Alma Fuerte Sixto II had a lot going on with its taste. At first, I tasted dark chocolate and cinnamon. As I continued smoking, I also noticed flavors of oak, plum and orange bitters. These different flavors kept coming together, and it was interesting. However, there was a consistent issue with the draw being so tight, which made the experience a bit less enjoyable. The overheating, which added a bitter edge to what could have been a smooth and delightful taste.
Aroma: 15/15
The Sixto II smelled inviting. I noticed a little bit of chocolate and vanilla in the smell, making it feel richer and more exciting. There was also a touch of woodiness, like oak, and a hint of smokiness, almost like charcoal. It was like the cigar had a hidden world of flavors.
Burn & Smoke: 14/15
The ash was firm and held well. The burn was mostly even, The smoke from this cigar is smooth and soft in your mouth. It's not harsh or rough, which makes it easy to enjoy the flavors.
Overall Enjoyment: 15/20
I couldn't fully benefit of this cigar all the way to the end. The flavors were indeed very good, with intriguing notes of dark chocolate, plum and cinnamon. However, the persistent tight draw consistently hindered my experience, preventing it from being as great as it could have been.
Conclusion:
In summary, this cigar had really great flavors that I enjoyed, but it didn't last long because of the tight draw, which made it hard to smoke. The Alma Fuerte Sixto II earned a Score of 84 in my review, falling into the 'Enjoyable' category It reminded me that a cigar's quality isn't just about taste; it's also about how well it's made and how easy it is to smoke.
Even though the draw was a problem, the tastes of dark chocolate, plum, cinnamon and oak, were interesting and left a good impression. Despite this issue, I'm curious to try other cigars from Plasencia because they seem dedicated to making flavorful cigars. This cigar showed their potential, and I'm excited to see what else they have in store.
Bonus - Perfect Pairing:
If you prefer pairing the Alma Fuerte Sixto II cigar with rum, I recommend trying a spiced rum like Kraken Black Spiced Rum. Its rich and spiced flavors, featuring notes of cinnamon, vanilla, and nutmeg, can complement the cigar's complexity and create a delightful combination. Spiced rum often pairs well with cigars due to its warm and flavorful profile.
